Packing list!

So the weekend is almost there! At this point you would either be jumping for joy and wish time would speed up or you (like me) would be at the shops buying all the energy drinks you could get your hands on while in a panic trying to stay awake for the next 48 hours as there is so much you have got left to do!

A common question that rises up on the forums for each event concerns your packing list. It is always a good idea to look into them just before your shopping trip in town to see what you would need to buy.  Let’s face it, forgetting things…really suck! Especially if you have spent a whole day travelling and your venue is quite far away from civilisation. Feel free to print this out for your own list.

ID (IMPORTANT-See below)
Travel tickets (if needed)
Money and cash card
Glasses/contacts (if needed)
Medication (including painkillers)
Contraception
Notebook and pen
Mobile phone and charger
Handhelds/music player
Digital camera
Camcorder
Emergency sewing kit
Hairbrush/comb
Hairdryer
Hair straightener
Shavers
Make-up
Deodorant
Shower gel
Shampoo
Conditioner
Baby wipes
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Underwear
Socks
T-shirts
Warm jacket
Bag for used clothes
Umbrella
Clothes for the parties
Swimwear if the venue has a pool
Comfortable shoes
Extra bags to carry stuff you brought at the event
And of course, your costumes.  Make sure to list what you need to bring for the costumes themselves.

Identification
Bringing the correct Identification must take priority to ensure you are of legal age to attend the convention. Failure to bring that may lead you to being turned away. Some examples of ID to bring include:

  • Passport
  • Photocard driving license (full or provisional, photographic card only)
  • CitizenCard
  • Prove It Card
  • Validate UK Card
  • Young Scot Card (the new version with PASS hologram, not the old one)
  • Armed Forces photo identity card
  • EU National Identity Card
Be sure to check the website to ensure your ID is acceptable. Always ensure that it is in date too!

If you are a cosplayer it is always a good idea to carry an emergency sewing kit. A basic kit should consist of:
  • Needles
  • Thread
  • Small scissors
  • Seam ripper
  • Safety pins
  • Super glue
  • Hot glue gun
It is always better safe than sorry and even if you don’t need any repair work, there may be others who will.
